For many women, a diagnosis of cancer and its treatment can have a significant impact on body image, emotional well-being, sexual health and relationships, even after treatments have finished.

What is the study about? The study purpose is to examine the usefulness of an online support group for women with breast cancer on topics about body image and sexuality. The study will assess the acceptance and effectiveness of the online group, as well as satisfaction of participating in such a group.

Eligible Participants:

  • Live in Ontario
  • Between ages 18-65
  • Diagnosis of stage 1-3 breast cancer and completed or nearing end of treatment
  • Concerns with issues around body image and sexuality

The group start date is planned for Wednesday, November 28 at 6:00pm EST and the group will run for 10 weeks for approximately 90 minutes.

  • Between ages 18-65
  • Diagnosis of stage 1-3 breast cancer and completed or nearing end of treatment
  • Concerns with issues around body image and sexuality

We will have two groups run in January. Both groups will be 10 weeks long, for approximately 90 minutes in length. 

There will be an Ontario-only group, planned for Wednesday, January 9 at 6:00pm ET

There will be a National group, planned to start on Tuesday, January 8 (time is TBD).

Ontario Breast Cancer Support Group: Restoring Body Image & Sexual Health After Cancer

What is the study about? The study purpose is to examine the usefulness of an online support group for women with gynecological or other female cancer, on topics about body image and sexuality. The study will assess the acceptance and effectiveness of the online group, as well as satisfaction of participating in such a group.

Eligible Participants:

  • Canadians (any province)
  • Between ages 18-65
  • Diagnosis of stage 1-3 gynecological cancer (or other female cancer) and completed or nearing end of treatment
  • Concerns with issues around body image and sexual health

The group start date is planned for Thursday, September 27 and the group will run for 10 weeks for approximately 90 minutes.

National Breast Cancer Support Group: Restoring Body Image & Sexual Health After Cancer

Lung Cancer Support Group

This is an online support group for all lung cancer patients who are at any stage of their cancer journey.

This group is provided in partnership between Lung Cancer Canada and Cancer Chat at de Souza Institute.

The group start date is planned for Tuesday, October 23rd and will run for 8 weeks for approximately 90 minutes at the following times:

10:30 AM to 12:00 PM Pacific

11:30 AM to 1:00 PM Mountain 

12:30 AM to 2:00 PM Central 

1:30 PM to 3:00 PM Eastern

2:30 PM to 4:00 PM Atlantic

This is an online support group for all ovarian cancer patients who are at any stage of their cancer journey.  This group is generously supported by Ovarian Cancer Canada.
